What is a good internet speed?
For general browsing and HD video, 25 Mbps download is comfortable. For 4K streaming or multiple simultaneous users, 100+ Mbps is safer. Upload speed matters most for video calls and cloud backups — 10+ Mbps is a reasonable baseline.
Why is my speed test result different from what I pay for?
Wi-Fi signal strength, other devices on your network, your router's capabilities, and network congestion at your ISP can all reduce real-world speed below your plan's advertised maximum. Testing over a wired Ethernet connection usually gets closer to your plan's rated speed.
What's the difference between Mbps and MBps?
Mbps (megabits per second) is how internet speed is normally advertised. MBps (megabytes per second) is how file download sizes are usually measured. There are 8 bits in a byte, so 100 Mbps is about 12.5 MBps.
Does WiFi affect my speed test results?
Yes — Wi-Fi introduces variability from signal strength, interference, and distance from your router. For the most accurate reading of your actual internet plan speed, connect via Ethernet cable and close other apps using bandwidth during the test.
